Summary Description

We provide seamless residential and commercial real estate closings services. Whether you are a first-time homebuyer or a seasoned investor, we will guide you through the closing process and provide clear answers to your questions.

We have also gained extensive experience over the past few years in helping clients sell their “upside down” or “underwater” homes. These “short sales” are becoming an increasingly popular foreclosure alternative, as they mitigate loss for both the homeowner and the lender. There are many benefits to the right candidate, and we are happy to offer free consultations to evaluate your case.

In addition to our real estate practice, we also represent Rhode Islanders with family court matters such as divorce, custody, and visitation; with wills, trusts, and probate administration; with business formations and litigation; and with Chapter 7 bankruptcy filings.

Attorney Overview

John Cappello is recognized for his skill and experience in handling real estate purchase and refinance transactions, commercial transactions, corporate matters, probate and family law matters. He is admitted to practice before all Rhode Island courts as well as the U.S. District Court for the District of Rhode Island. Over the past couple years, John has developed a special interest in representing clients through the short-sale process. He fundamentally believes that, for the right person, a short sale helps both the client and their family, and provides an important stop-loss to the foreclosure epidemic running across the state and country.

John graduated received his A.B. from Brown University in 2002 with degrees in History and Ethics & Political Philosophy and his J.D. from Roger Williams University in 2006. In 2012 he established the Law Office of John Cappello after working for his uncle, George M. Cappello, Esquire in Cranston, RI for nearly 15 years. He lives in Smithfield, RI with his wife Michelle and two children.
