Jose Vega is a lawyer specializing on Intellectual Property. He studied Law and Political Sciences at Universidad Santa Maria la Antigua, Panama, where he received his degree in 1988.
Mr. Vega has been a speaker at several important forums in Asia and the Americas. He is the host of a radio show on politics and economics and also hosted a weekly TV show.
Jose is a member of several local and international non-profit organizations. In 2006 he was appointed to the board of one of the world’s largest per-capita charitable fundraisings, Teleton 20-30.
Jose Vega is the founder of the Panama City-based law firm J. Vega & Asociados. His professional experience comprises application, prosecution of trademark, patent, design, copyright and other Intellectual Property rights and litigation where these rights are involved, as well as drafting and counseling in licensing and other contractual arrangements.
A key part of his expertise is on anti-counterfeiting. Other areas are business, corporate law and free trade zones.
Jose has assisted the Congress of his country in drafting legislation on IP and other matters, and has taken part in their legislative debates, as an expert.
Mr. Vega has been a speaker at several forums and meetings; among others is the First International Trademark Forum Protecting Chinese Trademark in the Arab, U.S. and Latin American Regions, held in Beijing, China, on May 2007 and the First Global Seminar on Trademark Protection for Chinese Enterprises Expanding Abroad held in Ningbo, China, on June 2008.
