Travis Tormey
The Tormey Law FirmNJ DWI Attorney – Criminal Defense Lawyer in Hackensack New Jersey
“You have found a criminal defense and DWI attorney in NJ that will challenge every element of the case against you, and fight to have the charges dismissed entirely.”
“You don’t have to let these legal issues take over your life or hurt your future. Our firm can help to put this situation in your past.”
New Jersey has a notoriously serious police force, and they’re tough. People get arrested every day and no one feels good about it. It’s up to criminal defense attorneys like myself to attack every detail in the state’s case against you, and create as many opportunities as possible to defeat your case. As a lawyer in Hackensack NJ, I hear from a lot of people that are scared of what they’re facing, and I can always tell them how we can possibly win their case.
As a criminal defense attorney, here is what I can promise about myself and the representation that you will receive when you hire The Tormey Law Firm:
• We are familiar with the best ways to challenge the case against you, and we have advanced defense strategies for any criminal charge that you likely face. W know the methods that work consistently, and how to implement them in the courtroom.
• We have current a current New Jersey prosecutor on staff, we understand how to analyze cases from both sides of the law. Knowing how the prosecution operates allows us to diffuse their cases.
• Additionally, my tactics and strategies in the courtroom have allowed me to build relationships with the prosecutors that you are facing. If they know that their case can be dismantled, they are far more likely to negotiate a plea.
• I have a series of cutting edge tactics that I use in DWI cases, like “Challenging the Field Sobriety Tests“, “Challenging The Initial Stop“, or “Challenging the 20 Minute Observation Period“. I’ve use these strategies in thousands of DWI cases that I’ve handled as a NJ DWI lawyer.
• I am one of few NJ DWI Attorneys that is certified to operate and therefore challenge the breath testing device that the police use in DWI charges. There are very few attorneys that can say the same thing. This allows me to “Fight The Alcotest Reading“.
• I enjoy fighting cases in court. I am passionate about winning.
• I am going to help you get through this. I will answer all of your questions, I will let you know exactly where and when you need to be in court, and I will be available any time you need me.
“The first step in finding the right NJ criminal lawyer is to choose someone who’s not afraid to stand up in court and fight to keep you out of trouble.”
Having worked in multiple large firms and in the US Attorney’s office, I’ve realized that a lot of the other lawyers just didn’t care. These were high level attorneys that seemed like they didn’t even want to put real time into a case anymore.
It seemed as though everyone wanted to step into a meeting room with the prosecutor, and take the first deal that would put them back on the golf course. Fighting cases takes time and effort.
That type of mentality is not what makes a New Jersey criminal attorney. We should be aggressively fighting for you, looking for every single loophole, and examining every single detail about your arrest. You as a client deserve to know that your money is being well spent on your defense.
I will research little factors like the hour and minute that your paperwork was filed, and I want to know about every single detail regarding the circumstance in which you were arrested. What procedures did the officer follow? Did he follow them correctly? Did he document each specific element of this arrest? As a New Jersey DWI attorney, I understand that the timing of certain procedures like the 20 minute observation period alone can win the case.
These are the details that make criminal lawyers in NJ successful. I would be embarrassed to be one of the guys that buys their way to the top of Google for a term like “Best DWI attorney in New Jersey” and then takes every case directly to a plea bargain. Be careful, because they are out there.
“The legal system can be a pretty complicated thing, but it can also be tremendously simple. Sometimes a simple glitch in paperwork can get a case thrown out, and sometimes relationships make all the difference.”
Sometimes the prosecutor fighting against you might be someone I went to law school with or someone who I have handled cases with before. It’s hard to believe, but stuff like this actually matters. Winning can be just as much about personal relationships and dealing with prosecutors as it is about knowing the law.
I’m not suggesting that your case will definitely be like this. I’m certainly not allowed to make promises; it’s actually an ethics violation for me to do so as a criminal defense attorney!
All I can say is that your success in fighting against the system is based on both your criminal lawyer’s connections and a thorough knowledge of the legal system.
This kind of relationship building doesn’t happen immediately.
When you hire a firm, you have to make sure they aren’t just going to stick you with the new guy, who hasn’t fought a real case in his life. I’ve had a chance to see the legal system from both sides, on the offense and the defense. Knowing how the prosecution is going to attack you makes it much easier for me to defend you.
I had the misfortune of working for the federal prosecutors office, and it’s not a place where I stayed for long. I considered making it my job to put “bad” people in jail, but I didn’t think that a lot of people deserved to be there.
“To be a prosecutor, it seems like you have to fight every crime as if it deserves the maximum punishment, and that’s just ridiculous.”
I got tired of seeing teenagers in a courtroom risking a criminal record because of a bag of marijuana. I saw the same tough-guy police officers claiming to have had physical altercations with various defendants. I knew that either party could have been responsible for the incident.
There are two sides to every story, and part of my job is making sure that your side is heard.
I decided to become a New Jersey criminal attorney, because I truly believe that the system can be unjust. Every person deserves a defense against injustice, and our justice system certainly isn’t perfect.
Every situation that my clients face is unique, and based on the circumstances surrounding your case, I will devise the strategy that will get you the best possible result.
“Charges are beaten by thorough preparation and experience in the courtroom. I know exactly how the prosecutors are going to approach proving their cases against you. I know the arguments that they will try to make, and how to defend against them.”
This gives me a tremendous advantage in court. They know I won’t hesitate to fight a case till the end. I have no problems telling the other side that their case is garbage and I am ready for trial. Developing a reputation as an aggressive criminal and DWI lawyer in NJ also makes negotiating settlements or pleas a lot easier. This is frequently a the best option to take in order to preserve your record and to be completely sure that you don’t end up in serious trouble.
At this point I’ve been working all over New Jersey fighting criminal and traffic cases of all shapes and sizes. I enjoy taking big cases around the state, and I like being a hometown Hackensack lawyer.
I know that money can be an issue for some of my potential clients, and other law firms charge some crazy prices. At the Tormey Law Firm, we are happy to work with you on payment plans and getting you the representation you need at a fair price.
If you think that my law firm can help you, please don’t hesitate to call me any time, day or night. I understand what you’re going through, and I’m here to help. It’s my pleasure to offer you a free phone consultation or to set up an appointment to meet with you personally. Please either email me or call me right now!
