Education

Billy hails from Longview, Texas and earned both a bachelor’s and master’s degree from Stephen F. Austin State University. He began his professional career in marketing and eventually moved to Houston in order to attend the South Texas College of Law.

While in law school, Billy was an intern with the District Attorney’s office of Harris County. During his final year at law school, the Harris County D.A. selected Billy to help with several high profile cases such as the prosecution of the Andrea Yates, who was accused of drowning her children.

Experience

Following his graduation from law school, Billy worked for famous Houston attorney Rusty Hardin. Working with Rusty Hardin & Associates afforded Billy the unique and invaluable experience of handling complicated criminal and civil cases.

After leaving Rusty Hardin & Associates, Billy again worked for the District Attorney. As an Assistant District Attorney, Billy honed his trial skills and established himself as a prosecutor who would not back down from Houston’s most elite defense attorneys.

In 2009, Billy left the D.A.’s office for private practice and formed the Law Office of Billy Skinner.
