We handle social security entitlement, divorces, child support, adoption and child custody cases. Our motto is we deliver caring, competent, and consistent legal service to every client while guiding our clients through critically important, and often overwhelming, legal problems. We accept cases from Galveston/Houston, Ft. Bend, and Brazoria counties. Our initial goal is to resolve legal problems with the least amount of time and financial expenses to our clients. In furtherance of this goal we thoroughly pursue alternative dispute resolutions and actively participate in mediations and negotiations to resolve matters as quickly as possible. However, in the event a client’s case must be litigated, we prepare a plan of representation which includes aggressive court representation.
As an extension of The Dorsey Law Firm’s belief that some legal matters can be prevented, the Principal Attorney, Veronica Dorsey, utilizes a management background to provide employers pre-litigation advice and employee relations consulting aimed at preventing or reducing liability. Veronica B. Dorsey has been practicing law in Texas since 1990. As a Texas resident, Veronica attended Texas Christian University, where she obtained her Bachelor of Science Degree and The University of Houston School of Law where she obtained her Juris Doctor degree.

Veronica started her legal career handling Family Law and Social Security Disability cases in Ft Worth, Texas. She received most of her recent training and experience as a Line and Managing Attorney and Administrative Law Judge with State of Texas Agencies. She was employed by both The State Office of Administrative Hearings (SOAH) as a Regional Director and Administrative Law Judge and by The Office of Attorney General (OAG), Child Support Division. She most recently held the position of “Managing Attorney” with OAG from 2004-2011.

Veronica founded the Dorsey Law Firm in 2011. In addition to being a contract Independent Hearing Examiner with Texas Education Association, she represents clients in Family and Social Security Disability Law as a private attorney. Her practice includes representation at all phases of the Social Security Disability process and representation on Family Law matters, including divorces, child custody, and child support matters.

Unique to the Dorsey Law Firm is Veronica’s management experience and Professional in Human Resources Certification (PHR) from the Human Resource Certification Institute (HRCI). She combines her management experience, certification, and legal expertise to consult employers on a wide array of day-to-day management and decision making issues, such as handling sensitive terminations, preparing and negotiating employment and severance agreements, preparing and revising employee handbooks, training management and staff, and administering leaves of absence.
