Wes is a graduate of the University of Kentucky College of Law where he attended on a trial advocacy scholarship. Wes was President of the Madison County Bar Association from 2008-2009. He is also a member of the Kentucky Justice Association as well as an appointed member of the City of Richmond Ethics Commission.

Aside from his legal practice, Wes volunteers his time as a youth sports coach and as a Madison County Youth Football League board member. In addition, he is an active volunteer for aspiring young lawyers on the high school, middle school and Eastern Kentucky University mock trial teams as well as the Teen Court program. In 2009, Wes, along with a local judge, founded the Madison County C.A.R.E. (Credit Abuse Resistance Education) program and he also serves on the local crime prevention board.
